Morocco face Egypt as Algeria draw Angola in Futsal AFCON 2026 semi-finals

The semi-final line-up for Futsal AFCON 2026 is confirmed, with three-time defending champions Morocco set to face Egypt and first-time participants Algeria meeting runners-up Angola.

The tournament’s group stage concluded on Saturday after the final two matches in Group B were played.

Morocco booked a meeting with Egypt, who finished second in Group B after losing 4-2 to Angola at the Palais des sports du Complexe Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat.

The fixture offers Egypt a familiar challenge. Morocco defeated the Pharaohs 5-0 in the 2020 final, while the Atlas Lions had also won the title against the same opponents four years earlier after a closer 3-2 contest. Egypt had beaten Morocco 3-2 in the group stage of that earlier tournament.

Morocco finished top of Group A after a dominant campaign. They defeated Algeria 4-0, Zambia 7-0 and Libya 6-0, scoring 17 goals without conceding.

Youssef Jouad and Raiss El-Fenni led their performance with four goals each. The results have placed Morocco on course to extend their record by becoming the first team to win the competition four times in succession.

Algeria, meanwhile, will face Angola in the other semi-final. Angola finished as runners-up in the previous edition, while Algeria have reached the last four in their first appearance at the tournament.

The Fennecs secured their place in the semi-finals on Friday by beating Zambia 7-4. That followed an opening defeat by Morocco and a 2-2 draw against Libya.

Nordine Benamrouche’s side could reach the final with victory over Angola, setting up the possibility of another meeting with Morocco and a chance to avenge their group-stage loss. Morocco’s 4-0 win over Algeria was their first match of the tournament.

The semi-finals will be played on 19 October, which falls on Monday. The third-place play-off and the final are scheduled for 21 October, Wednesday.
