Moroccan reports link Amin Benhachem with potential move to Zamalek

Zamalek are considering Modern Sport head coach Amin Benhachem as a potential option to lead their first team if they decide to part ways with current manager Moataz Gamal, according to Moroccan newspaper Al-Mountakhab.

The report says the Egyptian club’s management has included the Moroccan coach among the names being assessed as it considers possible changes to the technical leadership in the coming period. However, no official appointment has been announced, and Benhachem’s name is being discussed as a possible candidate should Gamal leave.

The reported interest follows Benhachem’s recent work with Modern Sport in the Egyptian Premier League, where his team has recorded a series of positive results after struggling in the fight to avoid relegation.

Modern Sport have collected four wins and a draw from six matches under the run described in the report, alongside one defeat. Those results have helped the club move away from a difficult position in the battle for survival and have drawn attention to the coach’s work.

According to Al-Mountakhab, Zamalek’s consideration of Benhachem reflects the impression he has made during his time in Egyptian football. His results with Modern Sport have reportedly placed him among the options the club could examine if a change in management becomes necessary.

The possibility of a coaching change at Zamalek remains conditional on the future of Gamal, with the club yet to confirm any decision regarding his position. Benhachem’s inclusion on the reported list does not mean that an agreement has been reached or that he has been selected to take charge.

The Moroccan coach’s progress also comes amid wider recognition of Moroccan managers in Arab and African football. Al-Mountakhab pointed to the successes and coaching ability of Moroccan figures working with major clubs and national teams as part of the context surrounding the reported interest.

For Zamalek, the immediate question is whether the club will make changes to its technical staff and, if so, who could be appointed to lead the team. Benhachem is reportedly among the names under consideration, with his work at Modern Sport helping to strengthen his profile.

Any move would depend on developments at Zamalek and a decision over Gamal’s future. For now, the link remains a report from the Moroccan press rather than a confirmed agreement between the club and Benhachem.
