Morgan Rogers makes Chelsea history with five chances on Premier League debut

Morgan Rogers created five chances in fewer than 75 minutes of his Chelsea Premier League debut, becoming the first player to achieve that feat for the club since detailed records began in the 2003-04 season.

The milestone came during Chelsea’s away match against Fulham in the opening round of the new Premier League season. Rogers was named in the starting line-up and made an immediate impact in his first league appearance for the club.

As well as setting up five opportunities for team-mates, the England international scored his first goal for Chelsea during the match. His creative performance ensured he became the first Chelsea player to create five chances on his Premier League debut since statistics started being recorded in 2003-04.

The achievement highlights the influence Rogers had in less than 75 minutes on the pitch. The five chances he created represent the highest total recorded by a Chelsea player making his first Premier League appearance for the club during that period.

Rogers’ involvement against Fulham therefore carried significance beyond his opening goal. He combined scoring with a notable creative contribution, putting together a debut that entered Chelsea’s statistical records.

The match was played away from home, with Chelsea beginning their new Premier League campaign at Fulham. Rogers started the fixture, rather than being introduced as a substitute, and made his first league appearance for the club from the outset.

His five chances created also provide an early indication of the attacking role he occupied during the game. Although the record relates specifically to his Premier League debut for Chelsea, it was achieved during a single appearance lasting less than 75 minutes.

Chelsea’s opening fixture supplied Rogers with the opportunity to establish himself immediately, and he responded by scoring his first goal for the club while also reaching a creative landmark. No Chelsea player had created five chances on a Premier League debut since the beginning of the statistical record in the 2003-04 season.

The performance will now form part of the data associated with Rogers’ first Chelsea league appearance. His goal and chance creation were the defining features of his contribution against Fulham.
