Monaco step up pursuit of Fares Ghedjemis as Besiktas enter transfer race

Fares Ghedjemis has become the subject of an increasingly competitive transfer battle, with AS Monaco making a renewed approach for the Algeria winger while Besiktas attempt to challenge the Ligue 1 club’s position.

According to information from Santi Aouna, AS Monaco have submitted a fresh offer for Ghedjemis. The Principality club have been impressed by the player’s profile and are seeking to strengthen their position in negotiations as interest from several European sides grows.

Monaco’s latest move underlines the seriousness of their interest. The club appear determined to pursue a deal for a player who has become one of their priority targets in the transfer market.

However, they now face competition from Turkey. Besiktas have opened negotiations and are understood to have put forward a contract proposal that would be more financially attractive to Ghedjemis.

That offer gives the Turkish club a significant bargaining point, but Ghedjemis currently favours Monaco’s project. The player believes the opportunity presented by the French club is more closely aligned with his expectations, although he has not completely ruled out a move to Turkey.

The transfer remains unresolved, with further developments expected in the coming days. For now, Monaco lead the player’s preference, but Besiktas remain firmly involved and could still alter the direction of the negotiations.

The field of interested clubs has narrowed. Celtic and Glasgow Rangers, who had both shown interest in recent weeks, have withdrawn from the race. The contest is therefore now focused mainly on Monaco and Besiktas.

The next stage could prove decisive, particularly with Monaco having tabled a new offer and Ghedjemis indicating that their proposed sporting project is his preferred option. Besiktas, however, retain the advantage of being able to offer improved contractual terms.

Ghedjemis is under contract with Frosinone until June 2028. His market value is estimated at 7.5m euros by Transfermarkt.

The 23-year-old’s future is being considered as Frosinone prepare to begin their Italian league campaign against Juventus. For that fixture, the betting company 1xBet lists Frosinone at odds of 6.20 to win, with a draw priced at 4.15 and a Juventus victory at 1.19.

The immediate focus in the transfer negotiations remains the decision facing Ghedjemis. Monaco have moved first with a new proposal and hold the player’s preference, while Besiktas are attempting to compensate with a stronger financial package. With Celtic and Glasgow Rangers no longer involved, the battle for the Frosinone winger is now concentrated on the Principality club and the Turkish side.
