Egyptian centre-back Mohamed Sami has joined Biyala on a free transfer from Sherben, adding significant experience to the club’s defensive options. The 34-year-old, comfortable on either foot and standing at 1.88m, makes the switch after one season with Sherben.
Sami’s arrival continues a long career in Egyptian football, with the defender once reaching a highest recorded market value of €100,000 during his time at El Dakhlia. He has moved regularly throughout his career, with this latest deal confirming another permanent change of club without a transfer fee.
The move to Biyala follows a sequence of free transfers in recent seasons. Sami left Tersana for A. Damanhour in 2024 and then joined Sherben in 2025, both on free deals, before now making the same type of switch to Biyala ahead of the new campaign.
Earlier in his career, the Egyptian spent spells at El Mahalla and El Dakhlia, alternating between Sherben and El Mahalla on loan and permanent agreements before stepping up to Tersana in 2022. That journey has given him extensive domestic experience across multiple levels of the national game.
Born on 1 October 1991, Sami now links up with Biyala as a seasoned central defender, with the transfer confirmed as a free move from Sherben completed on 26 July 2026.
