Mohamed Salah mocks Besiktas with 35% message after Trabzonspor win

Mohamed Salah appeared to take a swipe at Besiktas after scoring in Trabzonspor’s 2-0 victory over their Turkish Super League rivals, reviving a dispute over claims that his agent had demanded a 35% commission during transfer negotiations.

The Egyptian forward shared photographs from Monday’s match on his official social media accounts, accompanying them with the phrase “35%” in Turkish.

The post appeared to refer to comments made by Besiktas president Serdal Adalı to WinWin in July, when he claimed that Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas, had requested an unusually high commission during discussions over a possible move to the Istanbul club.

Salah scored Trabzonspor’s second goal in the eighth-round fixture, helping his side secure all three points against Besiktas. The goal took his tally to eight for the 2026-27 season, putting him at the top of the Turkish league’s scoring chart.

The victory and the forward’s subsequent social media post brought renewed attention to the transfer negotiations that preceded his move to Trabzonspor.

Salah brings back the 35% commission claim

The dispute dates back to 19 July, when Adalı spoke to WinWin about Besiktas’ attempts to sign the Egyptian international following his departure from Liverpool.

During the interview, the Besiktas president alleged that Abbas had sought a commission amounting to 35% of the proposed deal. He also questioned whether Salah himself knew about the figures being discussed.

Adalı told WinWin: “the agent has raised his own commission to unbelievable figures of around 35%. From our side, such a percentage is unacceptable under any circumstances, and we do not believe that Salah is aware of these figures.”

The comments followed reports that negotiations between Besiktas and Salah had progressed before the discussions ultimately failed to produce an agreement.

Salah subsequently joined Trabzonspor on a two-year contract, bringing an end to speculation about a possible switch to Besiktas.

His latest post appears to have brought the earlier disagreement back into the spotlight, with the reference to 35% echoing the figure cited by Adalı during his interview.

Abbas had previously referred to the figure

Salah was not the first person connected to the player to refer to the commission allegation publicly.

Abbas had also used the same figure in a response to one of Salah’s social media posts several weeks earlier, drawing attention to the comments made by the Besiktas president.

The issue has therefore resurfaced following Trabzonspor’s victory, with Salah’s post appearing to connect his performance on the pitch to the earlier dispute.

Salah leads Trabzonspor to victory

The Egyptian forward played a decisive role in Monday’s encounter, scoring the second goal as Trabzonspor recorded a 2-0 home win over Besiktas in the eighth round of the Turkish Super League.

The strike took Salah to eight goals for the campaign, leaving him at the top of the league’s scoring standings for the 2026-27 season.

While his contribution helped Trabzonspor secure an important victory, his post-match message also revived memories of Besiktas’ unsuccessful pursuit of his signature.

The forward has since begun his two-year spell at Trabzonspor, while the commission controversy remains a talking point following his latest reference to the figure at the centre of the dispute.
