Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah is reportedly closing in on a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad Club after negotiations with Turkish giants Beşiktaş JK broke down over financial disagreements.
Salah has been one of the biggest names on the transfer market since leaving Liverpool FC on June 30 after agreeing to terminate his contract a year early, bringing an end to a trophy-laden spell at Anfield.
Since becoming a free agent, the 33-year-old has attracted interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, the United States and Turkey, with speculation over his next destination continuing to intensify.
Beşiktaş appeared to be leading the race for the Egyptian captain’s signature in recent weeks, with talks progressing well before negotiations stalled due to differences over the financial terms of the proposed deal.
With the Turkish move now unlikely, Al-Ittihad have reportedly stepped up their pursuit by submitting an official offer to bring Salah to Jeddah ahead of the new season.
According to reports, the Saudi club have offered Salah a contract worth around $25 million per year, a package that would make him one of the highest-paid players in the Saudi Pro League.
The reports further claim that Salah has accepted the proposal in principle, with the transfer now approaching its final stages.
