Mohamed El Shenawy has returned to competitive action for Al Ahly after an absence of almost six months, starting Wednesday’s Egyptian Premier League match against Al Mokawloon Al Arab.
The experienced goalkeeper was named in Al Ahly’s starting XI for the fixture, marking his first official appearance for the club since March.
El Shenawy’s return brings an end to a lengthy period away from competitive matches and comes at an important stage for both the player and the Egyptian champions.

Against Tala’ea El Gaish on 9 March, Al Ahly suffered a 2-1 defeat. El Shenawy then featured in the team’s following match against Zed, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
His return against Al Mokawloon therefore represents a significant moment in his bid to re-establish himself as Al Ahly’s first-choice goalkeeper.
El Shenawy regains coaching staff’s confidence
