Former Egypt international Moamen Zakaria has drawn attention on social media after sharing a cryptic message that has led to widespread speculation among supporters.
The ex-Al Ahly SC forward posted a short statement on his Instagram story reading: “God is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs.” The message, though brief, quickly sparked concern and curiosity, particularly given the player’s well-documented health struggles.
Zakaria, who now serves as Assistant Head of the Youth Sector at Al Ahly, was appointed to the role in August 2023 as part of the club’s continued support for the former player. His post has since prompted questions from fans seeking clarity on its meaning, although no further explanation has been provided.
The 37-year-old enjoyed a notable playing career, representing leading Egyptian clubs including Zamalek SC and Al Ahly, as well as featuring for the national team. He also had a spell playing professionally in Saudi Arabia.
During his time at Al Ahly, Zakaria made 140 appearances, scoring 40 goals and registering 20 assists across more than 9,000 minutes of action. His contributions made him a key figure for the club before his career was brought to an abrupt halt.
In 2019, medical examinations confirmed that Zakaria had developed a rare neurological condition, later identified as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. The diagnosis effectively ended his playing career and marked the beginning of a prolonged period of treatment and rehabilitation.
At the time, Al Ahly’s board pledged full support, covering the remainder of his contract and funding treatment abroad, including in the United States.
