Milan close to appointing Markus Krosche as head of football

Milan are nearing an agreement with former Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig director Markus Krosche to become their new head of football, according to reports in Italy and Germany.

The German is expected to move to San Siro after resigning from his position as sporting CEO of Eintracht Frankfurt. The Bundesliga club confirmed on Sunday that Krosche’s departure had been unanimously approved by its board.

Reports from Kicker suggest Milan and Krosche could reach an agreement by the end of this week.

Krosche has been strongly linked with Milan since earlier this summer, when the club began a major restructuring of its senior management following a disappointing 2025-26 season.

Milan parted company with head coach Massimiliano Allegri, sporting director Igli Tare, technical director Geoffrey Moncada and chief executive Giorgio Furlani in one round of changes the day after the campaign ended.

Allegri has since been replaced by Ruben Amorim. Further changes to the club’s executive structure have seen Massimio Calvelli become chief executive, Hendrick Almstadt take responsibility for player trading and Bobby Gardiner appointed director of football intelligence.

However, Milan were unable to complete an agreement with Krosche and Eintracht Frankfurt during the summer. Reports at the time claimed the Rossoneri were prepared to offer the executive €10m per season in wages.

The latest reports indicate that talks have now progressed and that Krosche is once again close to joining Milan, this time in the newly targeted head of football role.

Although Krosche has resigned from his position at Eintracht Frankfurt, he recently signed a contract extension that keeps him at the club until the summer of 2028. That agreement remains valid, meaning Milan would have to pay compensation to appoint him.

Krosche previously held a senior role at RB Leipzig before moving to Eintracht Frankfurt, where he has served as sporting CEO. His potential arrival would complete another significant change to Milan’s football leadership following the departures of Tare and Moncada.

Milan’s planned appointment remains subject to an agreement over the compensation owed to Eintracht Frankfurt, as well as the final terms of Krosche’s move to San Siro.
