Milan aiming to make it two wins from two against promoted Venezia

Milan will look to maintain their perfect start to the new Serie A season when they host Venezia in the second round of fixtures on Friday, 28 August 2026. The match is scheduled to begin at 21:45 Moscow time, with the prediction backing the home side to record a 2-0 victory.

Milan opened their league campaign with an away win against Torino, coming from the first matchday with a 2-1 success and three points. That result gave the club an immediate boost after a disappointing domestic campaign last season, when they finished fifth in the table and failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Instead, Milan will represent Italy in the UEFA Europa League this season. Across their 38 league matches in the previous campaign, the Milan side collected 70 points, scored 53 goals and conceded 35. Their opening victory over Torino has already put them in a position to build early momentum, and another win would strengthen that start.

Venezia’s opening weeks have produced mixed results. They began the new campaign by beating Modena 3-2 in the Coppa Italia, a result which sent them through to the next round of the competition. However, their return to Serie A began with defeat as they lost 2-0 at home to Lecce in the opening league round.

The club from Venice secured promotion after winning Serie B last season with 82 points. Their return to the top flight brings a different objective, with the team’s immediate priority being to retain their place among Italy’s leading clubs.

The meeting therefore brings together two sides with contrasting ambitions and very different starting points. Milan have already secured a league victory and will be expected to use their greater top-flight experience to control the contest. Venezia, meanwhile, will be seeking a response after their setback against Lecce, having shown in the Coppa Italia that they can produce goals and win close matches.

Milan’s early-season form, combined with home advantage, makes them the stronger selection for this fixture. The prediction is that the hosts will claim their second successive league win, with a final score of 2-0.
