Michael Olise overtakes Harry Kane as Bayern Munich’s leading scorer

Michael Olise moved ahead of Harry Kane to become Bayern Munich’s top scorer this season after scoring twice and providing an assist in a 6-1 German Cup win over Magdeburg.

The France international opened the scoring after 10 minutes at the Allianz Arena, converting a cross from Morocco international Ismael Saibari. Olise then set up Saibari for Bayern’s second goal in the 21st minute.

He claimed his second of the match and Bayern’s fourth from the penalty spot five minutes after half-time as the German champions eased into the next round of the competition.

Olise now has 12 goals for Bayern Munich in all competitions since the start of the season, moving above Kane, who has scored 10, according to French statistics outlet Stats Foot.

Kane, who won the Ballon d’Or on Monday, had previously led Bayern’s scoring charts. Olise’s latest performance also made him the highest-scoring player currently playing in the Bundesliga when goals in all competitions are taken into account.

Olise joins Kane and Yamal among leading contributors

The assist for Saibari’s goal also lifted Olise into the group of the most productive players from Europe’s major leagues, when club and international performances are combined, since the beginning of the campaign.

He is second on that list with 24 goal contributions, having scored 16 goals and created eight more. Kane has the same total, with 16 goals and eight assists.

Only Lamine Yamal of Barcelona and Spain has contributed to more goals. The 25 contributions credited to Yamal comprise 14 goals and 11 assists.

Olise’s two goals and assist helped Bayern Munich record a commanding victory over Magdeburg in the second round of the German Cup.
