Messi leads El Clasico assist rankings as Benzema and Xavi follow

Transfermarkt’s all-time El Clasico assist list places Lionel Messi at the top, with 14 in 45 appearances for Barcelona. Former Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is second on 11 from 43 matches.

Barcelona great Xavi is third with 10 assists in 42 El Clasico appearances, while Real Madrid’s Luis Molowny also recorded 10, despite playing in only 16 matches.

The full ranking features five Barcelona players and five from Real Madrid. Pep Guardiola is fifth after registering eight assists in 20 matches for Barcelona, level with Andres Iniesta, who reached the same total across 38 appearances.

Real Madrid defender Roberto Carlos is seventh with seven assists in 24 games. He is followed by Barcelona forward Estanislao Basora, who also recorded seven, but in 19 matches.

Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior completes the players level on seven, having reached that figure in 24 appearances. Mesut Ozil is 10th with six assists in 16 matches for the Spanish club.

Transfermarkt’s published list describes some of the totals as goals, although the ranking is presented as an all-time assists chart.
