Kylian Mbappe has won the 2026 Onze d’Or award for the first time in his career after finishing ahead of several leading players in a public vote organised by French magazine Onze Mondial.
The Real Madrid and France forward secured 48.2% of the votes, comfortably beating Paris Saint-Germain pair Joao Neves and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who received 11.9% and 10.8% respectively.
The award adds another individual honour to the 27-year-old’s growing collection following an impressive campaign for club and country. He also joins a distinguished list of previous winners that includes Diego Maradona, Zinedine Zidane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Mbappe’s recognition follows a season in which his goalscoring form established him among the leading attacking players in European football.
Mbappe’s goalscoring numbers drive award success
The Frenchman enjoyed a prolific 2025-26 campaign with Real Madrid, finishing as the Spanish league’s leading scorer with 25 goals.
He also topped the Champions League scoring charts after finding the net 15 times in the competition, taking his overall tally beyond 40 goals across all competitions.
Those performances strengthened his case for the Onze d’Or, which is decided by a public vote rather than being awarded solely by a panel of football experts.
Mbappe’s influence was not restricted to his club performances. He also played a prominent role for France during the 2026 World Cup, where he scored 10 goals and provided four assists, earning the tournament’s Golden Boot according to the supplied report.
The forward’s international achievements further enhanced his reputation and contributed to a season in which he continued to collect individual recognition.
Mbappe beats PSG stars and leading European players
The voting figures underline the margin of Mbappe’s victory. Neves finished second with 11.9% of the votes, while Kvaratskhelia was third with 10.8%.
Several other high-profile players were also among those beaten by the French forward, including Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, PSG’s Ousmane Dembele, England captain Harry Kane and Declan Rice.
Mbappe’s win places him among the major names to have received the Onze d’Or, an award that has recognised some of football’s most celebrated players over the years.
The previous winners include Argentine great Maradona, former France captain Zidane, Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentina’s Messi.
French players Michel Platini, Jean-Pierre Papin, Eric Cantona, Thierry Henry, Antoine Griezmann and Karim Benzema have also won the award, alongside Dembele.
For Mbappe, the honour marks another milestone in a career that has already brought individual recognition at both domestic and international level.
His first Onze d’Or victory reflects the impact of his performances over the past season and his standing among the leading figures in world football.
