Massimiliano Alvini has been named Serie A Coach of the Month for August and September after guiding newly promoted Frosinone to an impressive opening to the 2026-27 season.
Frosinone have taken 10 points from their first five matches and are sixth in Serie A. They are also unbeaten in their past four league games.
The award is Alvini’s first in Serie A and recognises Frosinone’s strong return to Italy’s top flight. He will receive the trophy before the club’s next home fixture against Sassuolo on Friday, October 16.
Frosinone began the season with a narrow 1-0 defeat by Juventus before responding with a 3-0 away win against Fiorentina, who were struggling at the time.
They then beat fellow newcomers Venezia 3-2 and followed that result with a 1-1 draw at Genoa. Their latest performance was arguably their best, as they defeated Champions League outfit Como 2-0 shortly before the international break.
Alvini took charge of Frosinone ahead of the 2025-26 season, following the club’s disappointing 15th-place finish in Serie B the previous year. In his first campaign as manager, he led them to second place and secured their promotion back to Serie A.
The coach has also attracted praise for giving opportunities to young Italian players during the early weeks of the new Serie A season. Five members of the Frosinone squad selected for the victory over Como were subsequently called up to Silvio Baldini’s Italy U21 side.
One of those players, Antonio Raimondo, was also named Serie A Rising Star of the Month for August and September.
Because only five rounds of Serie A matches had been played before the September-October international break, the first monthly awards of the season covered both August and September.
The same dates applied to the Serie A Player of the Month award, which was won by Roma forward Donyell Malen on Thursday.
