Marwan Ateya transfer news: Al Ahly’s Egypt midfielder attracting Al-Fayha interest in Saudi Pro League move

Egypt midfielder Marwan Ateya is being linked with a move from Al Ahly to Saudi Pro League side Al-Fayha, with the 27-year-old defensive midfielder emerging as a potential target for the Saudi club this summer.

Ateya, a key figure in Al Ahly’s midfield, is under contract with the Cairo giants until 30 June 2029, meaning any deal would require Al-Fayha to negotiate a transfer fee rather than explore a free move. He is currently valued at around €4m, providing an early indication of the level of investment that could be needed to prise him away from the Egyptian champions.

The right-footed midfielder has been a regular for Al Ahly since joining from Ittihad Alexandria in January 2023, and his status has grown during a period in which the club have dominated domestically and in Africa. He has been part of the side that won back-to-back CAF Champions League titles in 2022-23 and 2023-24, as well as a series of Egyptian league and Super Cup triumphs, and was named Player of the Tournament in the 2025-26 season of a major club competition.

On the international stage, Ateya featured prominently at the 2026 World Cup, starting the majority of Egypt’s matches and contributing an assist across five appearances. His combination of top-level continental experience and recent World Cup exposure is understood to be central to Al-Fayha’s interest.

Al Ahly, who invested a fee to sign him three years ago and have since seen his value rise significantly, are in a strong contractual position as any discussions over his future develop.
