Marseille manager Bruno Genesio says the club’s leadership has given him assurances over its long-term plans for the team and his position, despite a poor opening to the campaign.
Reports had suggested the French coach could leave the club. However, Genesio says he has received the backing of Marseille’s management as it works on its plans for the future.
A financial crisis forced Marseille to sell several key players during the summer, including Mason Greenwood, Quinten Timber and Facundo Medina. The club did not bring in any new signings to replace them.
Marseille have lost five of their first six matches in all competitions this season and are second from bottom of Ligue 1.
