Soungoutou Magassa could leave West Ham only one year after joining the club from AS Monaco, with Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais among the teams monitoring the France-born Mali international’s situation.
According to Foot Mercato, both Ligue 1 clubs have recently made enquiries about the 22-year-old midfielder. Neither has made an offer at this stage, while several other European clubs are also understood to be following developments.
Magassa made 22 appearances and scored once during his first season in the Premier League. However, his future at West Ham has become uncertain following the club’s relegation to the Championship.
West Ham are expected to raise funds through a number of player sales, particularly involving members of the squad with significant market value. Magassa is one of the players whose position could therefore be affected as the London club prepares for life in the second tier of English football.
The midfielder joined West Ham in the summer of 2025 from AS Monaco and remains under contract until June 2031. His market value is estimated at €17m by Transfermarkt, which is also the fee West Ham paid to sign him, excluding any potential bonuses.
Marseille and Lyon are not the only clubs believed to have shown an interest. Galatasaray, Eintracht Frankfurt and Juventus have also reportedly expressed an interest in Magassa in recent weeks.
West Ham are understood to be willing to listen to offers for the versatile player, whose ability to operate both in midfield and at centre-back adds to his appeal. That flexibility could make him an attractive option for both Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais as they look to strengthen their squads.
For now, the player remains a West Ham footballer, but the number of interested clubs means his situation could develop quickly. A move away from London would come just one year after his arrival from AS Monaco and after his first full campaign in English football.
