Manchester United join race for €40m-rated Mamadou Sangaré

Manchester United are reportedly preparing an offer for RC Lens midfielder Mamadou Sangaré after the Mali international impressed during the 2025–2026 season.

The 22-year-old has emerged as one of the standout names on United’s recruitment shortlist, with the Premier League club said to be monitoring his progress closely ahead of a potential move.

Sangaré, who joined RC Lens from Rapid Vienna, has seen his reputation grow rapidly following a strong campaign in Ligue 1.

Reports suggest that Manchester United are now considering stepping up their interest by making a formal bid for the midfielder.

Journalist Sebastien Denis indicated that the English club are actively assessing the situation as they look to strengthen their midfield options ahead of the new season.

“Mamadou Sangaré has caught the eye of Manchester United, who are preparing an offer for the Malian midfielder.”

The report also adds that competition for his signature is expected to be intense, with more than a dozen clubs believed to be monitoring the player’s situation. However, despite widespread interest, no official offers have yet been submitted.

“More than a dozen clubs interested, but for now zero offers on the desk at”

Sangaré remains under contract with RC Lens until June 2030, meaning the French club are in a strong negotiating position.

Having invested around €8 million to secure his services last year, Lens are now expected to demand a significant fee if they are to sanction a sale.

Estimates suggest the midfielder could command a transfer fee in excess of €40 million, reflecting both his development and the growing interest from top European clubs.

His performances this season have made him one of the most closely watched young midfielders in France.

Manchester United’s interest is understood to be part of a broader strategy to refresh their midfield options, with Sangaré viewed as a potential long-term addition.

However, the club is not alone in its pursuit, and competition from other European sides could complicate any potential deal.

For RC Lens, the situation places them in a strong but challenging position, balancing the financial opportunity of a major sale against the importance of retaining a key squad player.
