Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler is regarded as one of the leading candidates to replace Michael Carrick at Manchester United if the club decides to dismiss its current manager.
Reports of United’s interest in the 33-year-old German coach emerged in recent days. However, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano says the club has not contacted Hurzeler or any other manager.
Romano reports that there is a strong admirer of Hurzeler on Manchester United’s board, with one senior figure particularly interested in the Brighton manager’s potential appointment.
Despite that interest, United continue to back Carrick and have not begun discussions with possible replacements.
Manchester United are 13th in the Premier League table after six matches.
