Manchester City have extended Jérémy Doku’s contract until 2031, securing the future of the Belgium winger as new manager Enzo Maresca begins his tenure at the club.
The 24-year-old has agreed a long-term extension with the Premier League champions, with City rewarding his development since he joined from Stade Rennais in 2023.
Doku has established himself as an important attacking option at Manchester City, with his pace, dribbling and ability to beat defenders becoming key features of his game. The new agreement keeps him at the club until the summer of 2031 and underlines his importance to Maresca’s plans.
The Belgian made an immediate impression after arriving in England. During his first season, he produced one of his most memorable performances in City’s 6-1 win over Bournemouth, becoming the youngest player in Premier League history to provide four assists in a single match. He was involved in five goals during that game.
Doku made more than 40 appearances in his first campaign for City, scoring six goals and creating 11 more. His contribution helped the club secure a fourth successive Premier League title.
His second season was less straightforward after injuries interrupted his progress. Despite missing time through two separate injuries, Doku still ended the campaign with eight goals and nine assists.
It was during the 2025-26 season, however, that he made what the club regarded as another significant step forward.
Doku became more consistent and increasingly comfortable within Manchester City’s style of football. He played an important part in the club’s successful Carabao Cup and FA Cup campaigns and produced several influential performances.
One of his notable displays came in the FA Cup semi-final against Southampton. Doku provided an assist and played a direct part in City’s equaliser during their 2-1 victory.
He finished the season with 47 appearances, eight goals and 14 assists. Goals against Liverpool, Chelsea and Everton were among the highlights of his campaign.
His value to City is not limited to his statistics. Doku can operate from either wing and is also capable of playing in a more central position. His willingness to take on defenders gives City another way of attacking opponents and creates opportunities to disrupt defensive structures.
Since moving to Manchester, Doku has also been part of a successful period for the club. He has helped City win five major trophies: the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and Community Shield.
His overall record for Manchester City now stands at 131 appearances and 22 goals.
At international level, Doku has won 48 caps for Belgium. He was also part of the Belgian side that reached the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup.
The contract announcement comes at the beginning of a new managerial era at City, with Maresca now in charge. Doku has expressed enthusiasm about working under the Italian and believes the manager’s footballing approach suits the qualities available within the Manchester City squad.
For City, the decision to keep Doku until 2031 represents more than simply retaining an established player. At 24, the winger is approaching what could be the most productive stage of his career, giving Maresca a long-term attacking option around whom he can develop his team.
The extension also reflects the progress Doku has made since arriving from France three years ago. From an exciting young winger adapting to English football, he has developed into an experienced City player with significant domestic and international experience.
Manchester City will now have Doku tied to the club for the next five seasons, giving Maresca a player capable of providing pace, creativity and direct attacking threat as he begins shaping the next phase of the side.
