Manchester City are in advanced talks to sign Palmeiras winger Alan Elias, with the 22-year-old being considered as a direct replacement for Savinho if the Brazilian leaves the club before the summer transfer window closes.
Sources have told ESPN that the English champions have moved into negotiations for the promising Brazilian forward as part of an expected reshaping of their attack. The move could significantly alter the final days of Manchester City’s transfer business.
Savinho is close to joining Tottenham Hotspur, with discussions between the two clubs continuing over a possible deal. The London club had already tried to sign him last summer, but that attempt was unsuccessful.
Manchester City’s interest in Elias is directly linked to the potential departure of Savinho. The Palmeiras player has emerged as the leading candidate to fill the vacancy, with the Premier League club preparing for a busy conclusion to the market.
The situation could also have consequences for Egypt international Omar Marmoush. The forward joined Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025, but the developing transfer plans have raised the possibility that he could also leave the Etihad Stadium.
City have already seen major movement in their squad during the window. Rodri has moved to Barcelona, while Tijjani Reijnders has joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah. Nico Gonzalez could also depart if Newcastle United maintain their interest and insist on pursuing a deal.
The potential arrival of Elias would therefore form part of a wider reshaping of Manchester City’s attacking options rather than being an isolated signing. However, the Palmeiras negotiations remain tied to the outcome of Savinho’s proposed move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Alongside their discussions over Elias, Manchester City are also hoping to complete another deal before the transfer window shuts. Talks with Lille for young Moroccan midfielder Ayoub Bouaddi have reached their final stages, leaving the Premier League club working on more than one incoming transfer at the same time.
City have also considered other midfield options but rejected a proposal to sign Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace. The London club have made clear that the England international will not leave Selhurst Park this summer.
Manchester City’s late-window plans have consequently been shaped by both potential departures and efforts to recruit younger players. The negotiations involving Tottenham Hotspur, Palmeiras and Lille are all part of a period of significant activity for the club, with the possible exits of Savinho, Marmoush and Nico Gonzalez adding uncertainty to the make-up of the squad.
The developments have prompted further discussion among supporters, with the subject also being debated in the Kooora forums.
