Manchester City maintain perfect start as Doku inspires 3-0 win at Liverpool

Manchester City extended their perfect Premier League record to six wins from six matches after beating Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield on Sunday, 11 October 2026.

Liverpool held out for more than an hour, but City broke through when Haaland opened the scoring in the 65th minute. Doku added a second three minutes later, before Cherki completed the victory in the 78th minute.

The result leaves City on 18 points and preserves their unbeaten start to the campaign.

Doku makes decisive impact after Ndiaye substitution

Iliman Ndiaye started for Manchester City but was replaced by Jeremy Doku in the 56th minute. The change quickly became central to the outcome.

Doku was involved in the sequence that led to City’s opening goal and then scored the second himself. His introduction also played a part in Liverpool being reduced to 10 players, with Gravenberch receiving a second yellow card for a foul on the substitute.

City’s match report also records that Liverpool had threatened before that turning point. Donnarumma made two saves from close-range attempts after half-time, meaning the final scoreline did not reflect a straightforward evening for the visiting goalkeeper.

Although Ndiaye was on the pitch for the opening stages of the contest, the key incidents came after his departure.

City’s finishing proves the difference

The final figures show 15 attempts from City and 13 from Liverpool, according to ESPN and the SNA match sheet. Liverpool registered six shots on target, compared with four for the visitors.

City, however, turned three of their four efforts on target into goals. That conversion rate was the clearest statistical difference between the teams, although the figures do not show the quality of each chance.

All three goals came after Gravenberch’s dismissal, so the match statistics combine periods played with 11 players on each side and the later phase in which Liverpool had only 10.

ESPN and SNA list Haaland’s goal as having been scored in the 65th minute, a timing also used in the main body of Manchester City’s official report. The introduction to that report gives the goal as coming in the 66th minute.

The match took place on 11 October 2026, with the data checked after the final whistle. The result, timeline and statistics were also recorded by SNA, while ESPN’s final match statistics and Manchester City’s official account provided the other match details.
