Mamelodi Sundowns will host USM Alger in the 2026 CAF Super Cup in Tshwane, South Africa, on Sunday, 8 November, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed.
The match will bring together the winners of Africa’s two major club competitions, with Sundowns entering the contest as CAF Champions League winners and Alger representing the Confederation Cup champions.
Kick-off has been scheduled for 15:00 local time, which is 13:00 GMT.
The fixture gives Sundowns the opportunity to add another continental trophy after securing their second CAF Champions League title.
The South African side defeated Moroccan club AS FAR in the Champions League final to claim the crown 10 years after winning the competition for the first time.
Sundowns, coached by Miguel Cardoso, took control of the final by winning the first leg 1-0 in Tshwane. They then travelled to Morocco and secured a 1-1 draw in the return match, giving them victory on aggregate and another Champions League title.
Their success means they will now return to Tshwane for another major African final, this time against USM Alger.
The Algerian club qualified for the Super Cup after winning their second CAF Confederation Cup title.
USM Alger overcame Egyptian giants Zamalek SC in a dramatic penalty shootout, winning 8-7 after the two legs of the final had ended with identical 1-0 victories for the respective home teams.
Alger won the opening match 1-0 after Ahmed Khaldi converted a late penalty to give the Algerian side an advantage.
Zamalek responded in the second leg by recording a 1-0 victory of their own, forcing the tie to be decided from the penalty spot.
USM Alger held their nerve in the shootout to win 8-7 and secure the Confederation Cup crown.
That victory earned the Algerian club a place in the CAF Super Cup, where they will now face one of the continent’s leading clubs in Sundowns.
CAF announced the venue and date as part of a wider update on the continent’s major competitions.
The decision to stage the match in South Africa means Sundowns will have home advantage when the two continental champions meet for the first major African club trophy of the new campaign.
For Sundowns, the match will provide another chance to demonstrate their status as Champions League winners after a successful campaign that ended with victory over AS FAR.
Their route to the Champions League title included a 1-0 home victory in the first leg before the South Africans completed the job with a draw away from home.
USM Alger, meanwhile, will arrive in Tshwane as holders of the Confederation Cup after their closely contested victory over Zamalek.
The Algerian side’s success was secured in particularly dramatic circumstances, with the final ultimately requiring penalties after both teams had won their respective home matches by a single goal.
The Super Cup will therefore bring together two clubs who secured their continental honours through contrasting but equally significant final victories.
Sundowns will be seeking to use their home advantage to add the Super Cup to their Champions League triumph, while USM Alger will aim to crown their Confederation Cup success with another major African title.
