“The boys are looking good in camp. After a recovery session, the players are prepared for tomorrow’s match,” said Pasuwa.
Malawi, also known as the Flames, are aiming to make a strong impression in the regional competition, which also features Zimbabwe and the host nation Botswana. The tournament offers teams an opportunity to test combinations and build match fitness.
Despite the generally positive outlook, Pasuwa acknowledged there were some concerns within the squad. Striker Richard Mbulu is currently being assessed after picking up an injury, while defender Charles Petro has yet to join the camp.
“We are waiting for the doctor’s confirmation on Mbulu after he picked up a knock, and Charles Petro, who was expected to join the camp today, has been delayed and is yet to arrive,” he said.
The absence or limited availability of key players could pose challenges for the team as they prepare to face Zambia, a side Pasuwa has cautioned against underestimating. He stressed that maintaining concentration would be essential if Malawi are to progress to the final from the semi-final.
“We should not underrate Zambia. That is why we have been preparing the boys both mentally and physically,” he added.
The semi-final encounter is expected to be closely contested, with both teams seeking to secure a place in the final of the four-team competition.
For Malawi, the semi-final match represents not only a chance to advance but also an opportunity to demonstrate progress under Pasuwa’s leadership.
