Luis Enrique is reportedly positioning himself to replace Hansi Flick as Barcelona manager in the future, with midfielder Pedri said to support the former Spain coach’s candidacy.
Barcelona have enjoyed a strong period under Flick, but the German will eventually leave the Catalan club. When that happens, Luis Enrique would like to take charge of the Blaugrana for a second time.
According to El Nacional, Luis Enrique has asked people close to him to work on presenting him as a potential successor to Flick. The Paris Saint-Germain manager wants to create the conditions for a return to the Barcelona dugout.
Pedri is believed to support Luis Enrique’s candidacy. The midfielder enjoyed working with him during the coach’s time in charge of Spain.
Luis Enrique managed Barcelona from 2014 to 2017. During that period, the club won nine trophies, including the UEFA Champions League.
Since taking charge of Paris Saint-Germain, Luis Enrique has won 13 trophies.
Luis Enrique has previously said: “I am a Barcelona socio, but tomorrow I hope to win.”
