Liverpool are reportedly the leading contenders to sign 16-year-old Defensor Sporting winger Nicolas Scotti, according to TEAMtalk.
Scotti is attracting interest from clubs in England, with Liverpool currently seen as the favourites for the highly rated Uruguay youth player.
His contract with Defensor Sporting contains a €9.4m release clause. However, the eventual transfer fee could be lower because the Uruguayan club are experiencing financial difficulties.
A deal cannot be completed immediately because FIFA regulations prevent players from moving to another country until they turn 18. As a result, Scotti would not be able to join an overseas club before November 2027.
Scotti is regarded as one of the most promising young footballers in South America. Arsenal and Manchester United are also monitoring his situation, according to reports.
