Liverpool are still working on a possible deal for Bradley Barcola, who remains a priority attacking target for the club, according to French journalist Sebastien Vidal.
Vidal said on social media earlier today that Liverpool have not abandoned their interest in the Paris Saint-Germain forward. Barcola is reportedly open to a move to Anfield, but the Premier League club face a significant obstacle in PSG’s asking price.
The French side are currently demanding a very high fee for Barcola, meaning negotiations could prove difficult. Liverpool’s interest remains active, but a transfer will depend largely on whether the clubs can reach an agreement over the valuation.
Mbaye is also admired by Liverpool, although Vidal stressed that the player is being considered in a separate deal. The two situations should therefore not be viewed as part of one combined transfer operation, with Liverpool assessing each player independently.
The report has prompted a mixed reaction from Liverpool supporters online. Some questioned whether the club have the financial strength to complete a deal of this size, particularly after last season’s spending. One fan wrote: “All I see is that Liverpool don’t have the financial power like last season, because Liverpool don’t do business like this.”
Another supporter repeated the same concern, while a further comment described the situation as a major problem for the club: “Hmm my team has a big problem
We can’t pay such huge amount for him if they fail to beat it down we are not buying. We need both of them with that amount for him alone.”
The comments reflect concern among some supporters that the price being demanded for Barcola could limit Liverpool’s ability to strengthen in more than one area. However, others called for the club to move quickly once its preferred targets had been identified.
“Identify the right players and no time to waste. Negotiate, sign and seal. Business done,” one fan said.
Another simply urged the club to complete the move, writing: “make it happen”.
Liverpool’s interest in Barcola and Mbaye is therefore at different stages, with Barcola currently the more prominent target but also the more complicated negotiation because of PSG’s high demands. Barcola’s willingness to move to Anfield provides encouragement for Liverpool, although no agreement has been reached and the fee remains the central issue.
The information was published by Sebastien Vidal, whose social-media message stated that Liverpool are still pushing for Barcola. Mbaye’s inclusion in the report indicates further recruitment interest from the club, but it is not linked to the potential Barcola transfer.
For now, Liverpool continue to monitor both situations, with any progress on Barcola dependent on whether PSG reduce or Liverpool agree to meet their asking price.
