Leweling withdraws from Germany squad ahead of Ghana Clash

Jamie Leweling has withdrawn from the Germany national football team squad after suffering a muscle injury, ruling him out of upcoming international matches against Switzerland national football team and Ghana national football team.

The 25-year-old winger, who plays for VfB Stuttgart, has returned to his club to focus on recovery, dealing a setback to Germany’s preparations during the current international window.

Leweling has been one of the emerging talents in the national setup, with head coach Julian Nagelsmann viewing him as part of the team’s future plans. His absence will deny the coach an opportunity to further assess the winger in competitive fixtures.

The attacker has enjoyed a strong season at club level, making 46 appearances across all competitions while contributing 11 goals and 9 assists. His performances have underlined his growing influence and consistency, helping establish him as a key figure at Stuttgart since joining the club in the summer of 2024.

Leweling began his professional career with Greuther Fürth in 2017 before spells at 1. FC Nürnberg and Union Berlin. His development across these clubs has contributed to his steady rise within German football.

On the international stage, Leweling earned his first senior call-up in 2021 and has since made four appearances for Germany, scoring one goal. He has also represented his country at various youth levels, reflecting his long-standing presence within the national team system.

While the injury comes as a short-term setback, Leweling is widely regarded as one of the Bundesliga’s promising young players. His continued progress at club level suggests he could play a more prominent role for Germany in the coming years once he returns to full fitness.

For now, the focus remains on his recovery, as both club and country look to ensure he returns without further complications. Germany, meanwhile, will have to adjust their plans for the upcoming fixtures in his absence.
