Kylian Mbappe parts ways with lawyer Delphine Verheyden

Kylian Mbappe has ended his 10-year professional relationship with lawyer Delphine Verheyden, who played a key role in arranging the France captain’s moves to Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

Verheyden, who represented the striker during a significant period of his career, confirmed the end of the partnership in statements to the press after the company managing Mbappe’s business affairs decided to terminate the relationship.

The lawyer described her time working with the Real Madrid forward positively, expressing her satisfaction at having represented him for a decade and praising him as an “exceptional athlete and man”.

However, the separation has also led to a dispute over financial matters. According to French newspaper L’Equipe, Verheyden has referred the termination of the working relationship to the Paris Bar Association in an effort to secure payments linked to certain contractual terms and conditions.

The development brings an end to a partnership that spanned two of the most important transfers in Mbappe’s career, including his move from Monaco to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 and his switch to Real Madrid in the summer of 2024.

Verheyden was involved in the legal arrangements surrounding Mbappe’s transfer to PSG, which saw the French club pay Monaco a reported €180m for the forward.

The move established Mbappe among the most expensive players in football and marked the beginning of a period in which he became one of the leading figures in the French game.

After several seasons in Paris, Mbappe joined Real Madrid in 2024 on a free transfer when his contract with PSG expired. The move brought an end to years of speculation about his future and represented another major moment in his career.

Verheyden’s role in facilitating the two deals underlined her importance to the striker’s professional affairs before the recent decision to end their association.

Mbappe is now in his third consecutive season with Real Madrid, where he has continued to make a significant contribution in front of goal.

According to figures from Transfermarkt, the France international has made 112 appearances for the Spanish club, scoring 94 goals and providing 14 assists. His combined tally of 108 goal contributions highlights his influence since arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The termination of his relationship with Verheyden marks a change in the team responsible for managing aspects of his professional career. While the lawyer has spoken positively about their decade working together, the financial dispute surrounding the separation is now being pursued through the Paris Bar Association.

The development follows a period in which Mbappe’s career has been shaped by high-profile transfers, major contracts and his growing status as one of the leading players in world football.
