Kylian Mbappe has been criticised by fans and journalists after he was seen at a Paris nightclub with his girlfriend while recovering from an injury sustained during international duty with France.
Reports in the Spanish media said Real Madrid had allowed the France forward to remain in his home country because he needed rest and did not have to be at the club’s training base.
However, Mbappe’s appearance at the nightclub has prompted renewed questions over his professionalism.
Marca journalist David Sanchez was among those to criticise the 26-year-old. Sanchez said Mbappe could have won greater support from Real Madrid supporters by returning to the club’s training ground and following his recovery programme.
He also suggested that the forward’s latest appearance at an entertainment venue was damaging his image, especially as it was not the first time Mbappe had been seen in such surroundings.
Juanma Castano expressed a similar view on radio station Cope. He said Mbappe should have returned to Real Madrid and sent supporters a clear signal of his commitment to the club.
Mbappe is recovering from the injury he suffered while with France, and Real Madrid’s next match is against Villarreal on 10 October.
