Kudus ruled out for rest of season, confirms De Zerbi

Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed that Mohammed Kudus will miss the remainder of the season, dealing a significant setback to his side’s plans.

Speaking about the situation, De Zerbi made it clear that the midfielder’s campaign has effectively come to an early end. “Kudus, for this season, has gone,” he said, confirming there is no expectation of a return before the season concludes.

The manager expressed sympathy for the player, highlighting both his personal qualities and importance to the team. “I am sorry for him, first of all, because he is a good guy. Should be very important for us, but we lose time if we speak about the past.”

The news represents a major blow, given Kudus’s anticipated role within the Spurs squad.

The player is said to have suffered a fresh hamstring injury as he was making his way back from a quad injury that has kept him out of action since January 4.

Kudus had been expected to play a key part in Spurs’ ambitions to stay afloat in the league this season as they battle relegation, and his unavailability will likely force adjustments in both selection and tactical approach.

Managers often rely on consistent performers during crucial stages of the season, and losing a player regarded as “very important” inevitably presents challenges.

Despite the setback, De Zerbi indicated a desire to focus on the present rather than dwell on the loss.

His remarks suggest the team will look ahead and adapt, rather than spend time reflecting on circumstances that cannot be changed.

The tone of his comments also underlined a personal concern for Kudus, beyond the professional implications. By describing him as “a good guy,” De Zerbi emphasised the human aspect of the situation, acknowledging the disappointment the player himself is likely to feel at being sidelined.

For supporters and Ghanaians, the confirmation brings clarity, even if it comes as disappointing news, with his participation at the World Cup in doubt.

With the season entering its decisive phase, attention will now turn to how the squad responds in Kudus’s absence.

While no timeline for recovery beyond the current season has been outlined, the focus will likely shift to ensuring the player returns fully fit for the next campaign. In the meantime, De Zerbi and his team must continue without one of the individuals they had hoped would play a central role.

The manager’s message was brief but definitive: Kudus will not feature again this season, and the team must move forward without him.
