Vincent Kompany says he remains “really proud” of his achievements at Manchester City after an independent commission found the club guilty of breaching more than 100 Premier League financial regulations.
The commission ruled last week that City had broken the rules across nine seasons, from 2009/10 to 2017/18. The club has appealed against the findings.
Kompany, now manager of Bayern Munich, spent 11 years at City between 2008 and 2019. The former Belgium international won four Premier League titles and several domestic cups during a period in which the club became a dominant force in English football.

“I played 11 years for the club. I’ve loved all of the years I played for the club and everything we achieved and (did) on the pitch – that’s something I’m really proud of,” Kompany told reporters on Friday.
The 40-year-old joined City from Hamburg just weeks before Sheikh Mansour completed his takeover, which transformed the club from also-rans into serial winners.
Asked about the allegations concerning City’s conduct away from the pitch, Kompany said they were not matters he had been involved in as a player and were not currently occupying his attention as Bayern Munich head coach.
“Everything else, as a player you’re not a part of that and right now as a coach of Bayern Munich I’m not too much occupied with that topic,” he said.
“I’m preparing the game next week and preparing the game we have tomorrow and everything I have as a coach.”
