Knowledge Musona has insisted he is not close to calling time on his career, with the former Kaizer Chiefs forward stressing he will keep playing for Scottland FC as long as his body allows.
The 36-year-old, who now turns out in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, says he still feels capable of operating at a high level and has no plans to set a retirement date.
Musona was in action for Scottland FC at the weekend in a match against his old club Kaizer Chiefs, underlining his continued presence on the pitch rather than on the sidelines.
Speaking to Kick-Off, the Warriors international explained that his physical condition will be the decisive factor in determining how long he continues.
He said his approach is to monitor his fitness rather than look too far ahead in terms of when he might “hang up his boots”, making it clear that retirement is not currently under consideration.
Long career across three continents
Musona began his senior professional career with Kaizer Chiefs in 2009, quickly emerging as one of the most exciting attacking talents in South African football.
His performances in the South African top flight earned him a move to Europe in 2011, when he joined German side Hoffenheim.
After his spell in the Bundesliga, the forward went on to play in Belgium and Saudi Arabia, adding further experience across different leagues and football cultures in Europe and the Middle East.
That journey, which took him from Africa to Europe and the Gulf region, established him as one of Zimbabwe’s most recognisable football exports.
Return home with Scottland FC
In 2025, Musona returned to Zimbabwe to sign for Scottland FC, marking the first time in his professional career that he had played in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
He joined Scottland FC on a free transfer after leaving Saudi Arabian club Al Akhdoud, bringing with him years of experience at club and international level.
The move reunited him with Zimbabwean football on a permanent club basis, after spending the bulk of his career abroad while representing the Warriors on the international stage.
Key role in title push
Musona slotted quickly into Scottland FC’s attack, forming a frontline alongside his brother Walter Musona and former Kaizer Chiefs team-mate Khama Billiat.
His finishing has been central to Scottland FC’s domestic title challenge, with his goals and experience providing a focal point in the final third.
During the 2026 season, Musona has scored 8 goals for Scottland FC, underlining his continued sharpness in front of goal despite his age.
The forward remains a central figure for the club, contributing not only with goals but also with leadership in a squad pushing for honours.
Musona believes he still has much to offer Scottland FC and Zimbabwean football in general, provided he stays fit and avoids serious injury, and has reiterated that talk of retirement is, for now, firmly on hold.
