Four teams from three countries will compete for the Kings League MENA Split 1 title at Riyadh’s Coal Arena on Friday, 30 October, with the semi-finals and final taking place during one evening.
A new champion is guaranteed after Jordanian side 3BS eliminated defending champions DR7 from Saudi Arabia on penalties in Monday’s quarter-final. Saudi Arabia’s RA2 and Egypt’s Turbo also exited at that stage.
The first full Kings League MENA season began on 18 September with 10 teams representing Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan and Egypt. The competition, founded by Spanish football star and entrepreneur Gerard Pique, combines competitive seven-a-side football with teams led by digital content creators.
Across nine league rounds and the quarter-finals, 48 matches have produced 489 goals.
FWZ face Red Zone
Kuwaiti leaders FWZ, led by team president and content creator Fawaz, meet Jordanian side Red Zone, captained by Maherco, in the first semi-final.
FWZ reached the Final Four directly after finishing top of the league with seven wins from nine matches. They began the campaign with four consecutive victories, including wins over DR7 and Red Zone, and recorded the biggest result in the competition’s history when they defeated ABO FC 13-3 in round six.
Igor Campos leads the FWZ attack, while Fouad Al Omrani and David Luiza rank second and third in the assists standings with eight and seven respectively. Vice-president and content creator Hnoudi Osom has also scored the President’s Penalty.
Red Zone arrive after three successive victories. They recovered from a two-goal deficit in Matchball Mode to beat Ultra Chmicha 6-5 in round eight, defeated Rising Peaks 8-5 to reach the quarter-finals and then overcame RA2 5-3 on Monday.
“Gio” Vidal scored the opening goal and later struck the decisive winner in Matchball Mode. He is the leading scorer among the remaining players with 13 goals and has won three MVP awards. Egypt international Mohamed Abdel Fattah adds further attacking threat.
Ultra Chmicha meet 3BS
The second semi-final sees Morocco’s Ultra Chmicha, led by Elias Malki, take on Jordanian club 3BS, led by Absi.
Ultra Chmicha opened the season with five straight wins and finished third after beating league leaders FWZ 8-6 in round nine. They edged Turbo 7-6 in a classic quarter-final, with Marc Granero scoring four goals, including the winner. Co-president Yassine Bougassa scored the President’s Penalty.
Former Belgium international Yannick Carrasco joined Ultra Chmicha as vice-president earlier in the season. Dani Linares leads the assist chart with nine, Granero has won four MVP awards and Waleed Al Jaadi tops the successful dribbles list with 63.
3BS lost the opening Jordanian derby 7-1 to Red Zone and only secured a quarter-final place on the final night of the league phase, beating DR7 on penalties. They defeated the holders again four days later, with injured French goalkeeper JMK staying on the pitch and making crucial saves, including the decisive penalty.
JMK leads the goalkeeper standings with 79 saves, while French star Moussa Sow holds the competition record with eight MVP awards.
FWZ beat Red Zone 7-6 in round two, while Ultra Chmicha defeated 3BS on penalties in round four. 3BS ended FWZ’s unbeaten start with a 4-3 win in round five.
The semi-finals are scheduled for 20:00 and 21:00 Saudi Arabia time, with the final at 22:30. Matches will be available on the team presidents’ channels, the official Kings League MENA channels on Kick, YouTube, TikTok and Twitch, and through MBC Action and Shahid. Tickets are available via WeBook.
