Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram is expected to miss at least four months after undergoing surgery on an injured knee, according to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
The France international is due to travel to Lyon on Wednesday, 2 September, where the operation will be carried out. His recovery is expected to take a minimum of four months, leaving Juventus without the midfielder for a significant part of the season.
Thuram joined Juventus in the summer of 2024 and has established himself as part of the club’s midfield options since moving to the Italian side. His current contract with the club runs until the end of June 2029.
The 24-year-old was involved in 35 matches in the previous Serie A season. During that campaign, he scored three goals and provided three assists, while also receiving two yellow cards.
The forthcoming procedure represents a setback for both Thuram and Juventus, with the player now facing an extended period away from competitive football. He is expected to begin his recovery after the operation in Lyon, although the initial assessment is that his full rehabilitation will take no less than four months.
Thuram has been with Juventus since the summer of 2024, and the club’s long-term commitment to him is reflected in the length of his existing agreement. His deal is scheduled to remain in force until June 2029.
The midfielder’s absence will deprive Juventus of a player who featured regularly last season, when he made 35 appearances in Serie A and contributed directly to six goals. His record included an equal number of goals and assists, alongside two bookings.
Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the surgery will take place in Lyon on Wednesday, 2 September. A minimum recovery period of four months is anticipated following the intervention.
