Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho has joined Turkish side Bursaspor on a free transfer from Celtic. The 29-year-old centre-forward moves to the 1.Lig club after helping the Glasgow side to a league and cup double in Scotland last season.
Iheanacho, a left-footed striker who stands at 1.85m, arrives in Turkiye with extensive top-flight experience across several major European leagues. He previously played in the Premier League and Championship, as well as LaLiga, before his spell in the Scottish Premiership with Celtic.
The move to Bursaspor follows a two-club journey over the past two seasons. Iheanacho left Leicester City for Sevilla in 2024, later spending time on loan at Middlesbrough before joining Celtic on a free transfer in September 2025. Less than a year later, he has now made another free switch to continue his career in Turkey.
Iheanacho has built a reputation as a reliable goalscorer in knockout competitions, scoring 18 goals in 25 FA Cup appearances and reaching double figures in the EFL Cup during his time in England. In the Premier League he made 196 appearances, contributing 42 goals and 27 assists.
His career honours include winning the FA Cup and Community Shield with Leicester City, the League Cup with Manchester City and a Championship title with Leicester in 2023-24. He also claimed a league and cup double with Celtic in 2025-26 and was part of Nigeria’s Under-17 World Cup-winning squad in 2013.
Iheanacho’s move to Bursaspor, completed on 17 July 2026, is a permanent free transfer from Celtic.
