Juventus welcome Lazio as Kolo Muani set for starting role

Randal Kolo Muani is expected to return to the Juventus starting line-up when they face Lazio in Serie A on Sunday evening, with the visitors seeking a victory in Turin that would take them back to the top of the league table.

Juventus arrive after a 2-1 away win against Celta Vigo in the Europa League on Thursday. Luciano Spalletti rotated his squad for that match, including handing Nick Woltemade a starting place as the central striker.

Their most recent Serie A fixture ended in a 1-1 draw at Cagliari. Spalletti was sent off after the final whistle following an angry touchline exchange with Fabio Pisacane and will serve a suspension against Lazio.

Lazio have made an impressive start under Gennaro Gattuso, who has overseen five wins and one draw in his first six Serie A matches in charge. They continued that run after the international break by beating Monza 3-1, although Gattuso criticised his team’s second-half display.

Juventus remain without Kenan Yildiz, Khephren Thuram and Manuel Locatelli because of injury. Jeremie Boga, Jeff Ekhator, Kamil Grabara and Arkadiusz Milik are also unavailable.

Several changes are expected from the Juventus side that defeated Celta Vigo. Kolo Muani should replace Woltemade at centre-forward, while Nico Gonzalez is tipped to come into the starting XI for either Francisco Conceicao or Kerim Alajbegovic.

Douglas Luiz is also expected to return in midfield, with Teun Koopmeiners likely to make way.

Sky Sport Italia’s projected line-up does not anticipate many changes for Napoli, although it predicts Josip Sutalo will start at centre-back instead of Danilho Doekhi.

Kick-off is scheduled for 19.45 BST.

Probable line-ups

Juventus (3-4-2-1): Vicario; Kalulu, Bremer, Lucumi; Celik, D. Luiz, Sarr, McKennie; N. Gonzalez, Alajbegovic; Kolo Muani.

Lazio (4-3-3): Mandas; Floriani, Sutalo, Provstgaard, Tavares; Frattesi, Belahyane, Taylor; Isaksen, Noslin, Zaccagni.

The match will be shown live in the UK on TNT Sports and streamed on HBO Max and DAZN. Viewers in the USA can watch through Paramount+.
