Juventus are considering a two-stage solution to their goalkeeping situation, with a loan deal for Zion Suzuki followed by an attempt to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson in 2027.
The Italian club have turned to the plan after finding it difficult to secure Suzuki on a permanent transfer. According to calciomercato.it, citing Sportmediaset, Juventus now hope to bring the Japan international in on loan for the coming season.
Suzuki had been a target for Juventus, but PSG have won the race to sign him from Parma. Rather than abandon their interest, Juventus are exploring the possibility of taking the goalkeeper temporarily from the French club.
The proposed loan would provide a short-term answer while allowing Juventus to keep their longer-term plans open. The club’s main ambition is to recruit Alisson when his Liverpool contract expires in 2027, potentially without paying a transfer fee.
Luciano Spalletti is understood to be particularly keen on the Brazil international. The Juventus manager worked with Alisson during their time together at Roma, where they developed a strong professional relationship.
Alisson has also previously been open to the possibility of returning to Serie A, a factor that has encouraged Juventus to consider a future move for the experienced goalkeeper.
Liverpool, though, are still intent on retaining Alisson beyond the original expiry date of his contract. The club have activated a clause to extend his agreement until 2027 and have already lined up Giorgi Mamardashvili as a long-term successor.
Alisson has indicated that he intends to see out his Liverpool contract before deciding what to do next. That position means Juventus’ proposed move remains an ambition rather than a guaranteed outcome.
For the immediate future, Juventus’ priority is to complete negotiations for Suzuki’s loan. The club have conducted an extensive search for a goalkeeper this summer, with Guglielmo Vicario and several other candidates also appearing on their shortlist.
The Juventus plan would therefore give the club a temporary solution between the posts while they wait to see whether Alisson becomes available. If the Brazilian leaves Liverpool when his contract ends in 2027, Juventus would hope to secure one of the world’s leading goalkeepers on a free transfer.
Much depends on circumstances at both clubs. PSG’s willingness to loan Suzuki will be central to Juventus’ plans for the coming season, while Liverpool’s position and Alisson’s own decision will determine whether the longer-term target can be achieved.
For now, Juventus are working towards a stop-gap arrangement with Suzuki, while keeping alive the possibility of a major move for Alisson two years later.
