Federico Gatti will stay at Juventus after the Italian club and Porto failed to reach an agreement over a move for the central defender during the final days of the summer transfer window.
The decision means the 28-year-old Italy defender will remain with the Turin side at least until January. Transfer insider Nicolo Schira reported the outcome on social media, confirming that Gatti’s proposed move to Porto would not be completed.
Porto had shown an interest in signing Gatti and negotiations took place between the clubs towards the end of the summer window. However, the two sides were unable to settle the terms of the deal, bringing the discussions to an end without an agreement.
As a result, Gatti will continue his career at Juventus for the time being. The defender joined the Turin club in the winter of 2022 and has remained part of the squad since then.
Gatti featured in 28 matches for Juventus during the 2024-25 season and scored four goals. His current market value is estimated at €14m.
The failure to agree a transfer leaves Juventus retaining a player who has been with the club since early 2022, while Porto’s interest has not resulted in a completed deal. Gatti’s immediate future is therefore in Turin, with any possible change now postponed until at least the January transfer window.
For Gatti, the outcome ensures continuity at Juventus after a period of uncertainty late in the summer market. Although negotiations were held and Porto were interested in his services, the clubs could not reach terms acceptable to both parties.
The defender remains registered with Juventus and is set to continue with the club that he joined in the winter of 2022. His four goals in 28 appearances last season formed part of a campaign that helped maintain his importance within the Turin squad.
No agreement was reached before the summer transfer window closed, and Gatti will consequently remain a Juventus player for the next stage of the season. His market valuation stands at €14m, but that figure did not lead to a deal with Porto.
