Juventus have confirmed that midfielder Nico Gonzalez and defender Zeki Celik sustained muscle injuries during their 2-2 draw with Rennes in the third round of the Europa League league phase.
Celik opened the scoring after five minutes but later suffered a mild strain to the muscles at the back of his left thigh.
Gonzalez damaged the soleus muscle in his right leg. Juventus said both players had already begun rehabilitation programmes, although the club did not provide a timeframe for their returns.
The injuries add to the selection problems facing Juventus head coach Luciano Spalletti.
The Italian side have already had to cope with the absences of Kenan Yıldız, Khephren Thuram and Manuel Locatelli this season. Francisco Conceicao is recovering from a dislocated shoulder, while Jeff Ekhator and Kamil Grabara are also unavailable.
The growing list of injuries leaves Juventus short of attacking options before Sunday’s Serie A away match against Lecce.
