Julian Alvarez appeared unusually reserved during Atletico Madrid training on Wednesday, with the Argentina striker reportedly keeping his distance from team-mates and making little effort to interact with those around him.
According to a report by Mundo Deportivo, Alvarez seemed somewhat “lonely” during the session. He trained with the squad as planned but was rarely involved in conversations or jokes, in contrast to several of his team-mates and members of the club’s staff.
The 15 minutes of training open to the media provided a glimpse of the atmosphere. While Koke, Baena and Llorente were seen joking with staff, Alvarez remained apart from the group. His only notable exchange came when he briefly spoke with Lemar.
Despite the apparent distance in training, Alvarez has continued to follow Atletico Madrid’s schedule since returning from holiday. He has not publicly complained or expressed dissatisfaction and attended the club’s Majadahonda training ground on Wednesday for his third day back with the squad.
The forward underwent a medical examination on Monday before taking part in two training sessions on Tuesday. He worked alone during the morning session and later trained with players who had featured in the last two World Cup matches.
Wednesday was the first time since his return that Alvarez had trained with the full squad. Although he appeared serious and somewhat isolated, he completed the session normally.
Atletico Madrid’s position on the striker remains unchanged. The club does not want to sell Alvarez and has reiterated for several weeks that, even if he were to leave, it would not allow him to join Barca. The club’s stance is described as firm, with Atletico confident that the Argentine international will continue to train as normal.
The mood around Wednesday’s session was nevertheless noticeably different from previous days. No team-mate appeared to approach Alvarez for an extended conversation, while he largely kept to himself during the media viewing period.
Internally, the reaction at Atletico Madrid may be more complicated than the calm public position suggests. For now, though, the situation is considered generally peaceful, with Alvarez training as required and no public indication that he intends to challenge the club’s position.
The report focuses on the striker’s demeanour rather than any formal disciplinary issue or confirmed breakdown between Alvarez and Atletico Madrid. His training attitude was described as serious, but his limited interaction with team-mates has drawn attention as speculation continues around his future.
