Ghanaian defender Joseph Adjei of Al-Khaboura SC is being linked with a move to Indian side Samaleswari SC as the centre-back approaches the end of his short-term deal in Oman.
Adjei, 30, joined Al-Khaboura in January 2026 and is out of contract on 30 May 2026, a timeline that would allow Samaleswari to explore a free transfer if no extension is agreed. The Indian club are understood to be monitoring his situation closely as they look to reinforce the heart of their defence for the coming campaign.
The Accra-born centre-back, who stands at 1.89m and plays predominantly on the right side of central defence, is currently valued at around €150,000, a figure that reflects his experience across several leagues in Asia and Africa. His contract status is seen as a key factor in making a deal financially viable for Samaleswari.
Adjei has built a reputation as a dependable presence at the back, underlined by a series of honours collected in recent seasons. Most notably, he was part of the Mohammedan SC (Kolkata) side that claimed the Indian championship in 2024, giving him direct experience of Indian football and its demands.
He has also tasted cup success elsewhere, winning the South African cup with Cape Town City FC in 2016-17 and lifting the Syrian Cup with Al-Ahli SC (Syria) in 2022, adding to his appeal as a proven competitor in knockout competitions.
For now, Adjei remains under contract with Al-Khaboura SC, with his future likely to hinge on whether the Omani club move to extend his deal before it expires at the end of May.
