Aubin Kouakou, the Ivorian-Tunisian defensive midfielder currently at Dempo SC, is being linked with a move to fellow Indian side Samaleswari SC as uncertainty grows over his short-term future in Goa.
The 35-year-old, who joined Dempo on 28 February 2026, is approaching the end of his current deal, which runs until 31 May 2026. With negotiations over an extension yet to be finalised, Samaleswari are monitoring the situation closely as they look to add experience to the heart of their midfield ahead of the new campaign.
Kouakou, a right-footed holding midfielder standing at 1.82m, has been valued at around €50,000 as of the start of June, a figure that could make him an accessible target if Dempo decide against renewing his contract. His age and profile point towards a move that would offer Samaleswari a ready-made organiser in front of the back line, without requiring a significant outlay.
Born in Bouafle on 1 June 1991, Kouakou holds both Ivorian and Tunisian nationality, adding international pedigree to a league that has seen a growing influx of foreign professionals in recent seasons. Since arriving at Dempo earlier this year, his role in defensive midfield has been central to the club’s structure, even as his contractual end date has drawn closer.
For now, Kouakou remains a Dempo player, but with his contract set to expire at the end of May, Samaleswari’s interest is expected to intensify as they weigh up the possibility of securing him without a transfer fee once he becomes a free agent.
