James Maddison ends 16-month Tottenham goal drought against Coventry

Tottenham midfielder James Maddison scored for the first time in 16 months when he found the net against Coventry in the evening match of the seventh round of the Premier League.

Maddison’s previous goal came late in the season before last, in Tottenham’s semi-final against Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League campaign they went on to win.

The England midfielder had endured a prolonged spell in which he spent more time recovering from injury than playing. He finally ended that run on Monday by scoring against Coventry.

The goal also marked the first time Tottenham had taken the lead in a match this season.
