Abdoul Kader Traoré has completed a move to BFC Daugavpils, marking a fresh chapter in his career as the 22-year-old looks to rebuild his form in familiar surroundings.
The Ivorian winger joins the Latvian side after his contract with FK Auda expired at the start of 2026, bringing an end to a three-season spell with the club.
His new team confirmed the signing through an official announcement on social media, signalling a return that could prove pivotal for the player’s development.
Traoré is no stranger to Daugavpils. He previously spent part of the 2024 season on loan at the club, where he delivered an impressive run of performances.
During that spell, he scored nine goals and registered two assists in 18 league matches, starting every game and quickly establishing himself as a key attacking option.
That earlier success appears to have influenced the club’s decision to bring him back on a permanent basis.
For Traoré, the move offers a chance to rediscover the consistency that first brought him into the spotlight.
His time at FK Auda, although not without achievement, proved more challenging.
Across 42 appearances in all competitions, the winger scored three goals and provided one assist.
While those numbers fell short of expectations, he was part of the squad that lifted the Latvian Cup in 2025, adding silverware to his growing career.
The transfer also highlights a broader trend of African players carving out careers in less traditional European leagues.
For many, countries like Latvia provide a platform to gain experience, secure regular playing time, and attract attention from clubs in more prominent competitions.
Traoré’s journey began in Côte d’Ivoire with LYS Sassandra before his move to Europe more than four years ago.
Since then, he has navigated the challenges of adapting to a new football culture while striving to establish himself professionally. His return to Daugavpils suggests a strategic decision to prioritise playing time and familiarity over uncertainty.
At 22, the winger still has significant room for growth. Known for operating on the left flank, he combines pace with attacking intent, qualities that made him effective during his previous stint with the club.
The expectation will now be for him to translate that promise into sustained performances over a full season.
