Football clubs across Ivory Coast are set to receive increased financial support this season after the president of the Ivorian Football Federation, Idriss Yacine Diallo, announced higher subsidies for teams competing in the country’s professional leagues.
The increase will see clubs in the Ivorian top flight receive 140 million CFA francs, up from the previous allocation of 100 million.
Ligue 2 clubs will also benefit from a higher payment, with their subsidy rising from 50 million to 70 million CFA francs.
The changes come as clubs prepare for the new season and are expected to provide additional financial support as officials finalise their budgets.
The new figures represent a significant increase for teams in the two professional divisions.
Ligue 1 clubs will receive the largest allocation at 140 million CFA francs, while teams in the second tier will receive half that amount.
Support has also been adjusted for clubs and groups outside the top two divisions.
Third-division teams will see their subsidy rise from 30 million to 40 million CFA francs.
Women’s clubs, however, will receive a lower allocation under the new arrangement. Their subsidy has been set at 15 million CFA francs.
Interest groups will receive 20 million CFA francs.
The announcement by Diallo provides clubs with clarity on the financial support available to them as they prepare for the new campaign.
For Ligue 1 teams, the move represents an additional 40 million CFA francs compared with the previous subsidy.
Clubs in Ligue 2 will receive an extra 20 million CFA francs, while third-division teams will gain an additional 10 million.
The revised allocations mean the professional divisions and other areas of Ivorian football will enter the new season with different levels of financial support.
The changes are particularly significant for clubs in the top two divisions, where the increased subsidies will give officials more room to reassess their financial requirements ahead of the campaign.
