Ittihad Tanger have strengthened their goalkeeping department with the signing of Moroccan goalkeeper Badreddine Abyir on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract with fellow Botola Pro Inwi side Hassania.
The 27-year-old joins the Tangier-based club after leaving the Agadir outfit, remaining in Morocco’s top flight as he enters the prime years of his career.
New challenge in the Botola Pro
Born in Casablanca, Abyir stands at 1.94 metres and offers Ittihad Tanger a commanding presence between the posts.
The left-footed goalkeeper arrives with growing experience in the Botola Pro, where his consistent performances have seen his market value rise to €400,000.
His contract length has not been disclosed, but the move has been confirmed as a permanent free transfer.
Career built through Moroccan football
Abyir has steadily worked his way through the Moroccan football pyramid.
He began his senior career with CR Bernoussi before joining Olympique Dcheira on a free transfer in 2021.
After one season, he secured another free move to Hassania in August 2022, where he established himself as a reliable goalkeeper.
His performances in Agadir have now earned him another move within the Botola Pro, with Ittihad Tanger identifying him as an important addition ahead of the new season.
Strengthening the squad
Ittihad Tanger believe Abyir’s height, shot-stopping ability and left-footed distribution will provide greater competition in the goalkeeping department as the club prepares for the 2026/27 campaign.
The move represents another step forward in the goalkeeper’s career, while giving Ittihad Tanger an experienced option as they look to improve their performances in Morocco’s top flight.
