Ittihad Alexandria sign Egypt centre-back Mostafa Moawad from Al-Wehdat

Egyptian centre-back Mostafa Moawad has joined Ittihad Alexandria from Jordanian club Al-Wehdat, signing a contract that runs until 30 June 2029.

The 29-year-old defender makes the move after one season with Al-Wehdat, whom he joined from Al-Jazeera Club in July 2025. His arrival gives Ittihad Alexandria an experienced central defender as they prepare for the new Egyptian Premier League campaign.

Moawad played in the Jordanian Pro League, Egypt Cup, AFC Champions League Two and Jordan Super Cup during his recent career. His recorded figures include 36 appearances and two goals in the Jordanian Pro League, along with two goals in six appearances in the AFC Champions League Two.

He also made seven appearances in the Egypt Cup and featured twice in the Jordan Super Cup. The defender’s most recent club football came in Jordan before his return to Egypt with Ittihad Alexandria.

Moawad joined Al-Wehdat as a free agent after leaving Al-Jazeera Club, where he had spent the second half of the 2024-25 season. Before that spell, he had a period without a club following his departure from Qanah in July 2024.

His earlier career included time with Qanah and Petrojet, while he also spent the 2018-19 season on loan at Suez SC before returning to Petrojet. He began his senior career with Petrojet after progressing from the club’s under-23 side.

Born in Mansoura on 7 April 1997, Moawad stands 1.83m tall and is right-footed. His preferred position is centre-back, the role in which he has established himself across his recent club career.

Ittihad Alexandria have now secured Moawad’s services through the end of the 2028-29 season, with the Egyptian defender officially joining the club on 15 August 2026.
