Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has confirmed that Ismael Saibari is expected to miss three to four months after suffering a syndesmosis ligament tear.
The update was reported by Sky Germany journalist Plettenberg after Saibari underwent surgery. Eberl said the operation had gone well, but suggested the midfielder’s initial optimism about his recovery time was unrealistic.
“The surgery went very well yesterday. Ismael Saibari was already sitting with us at lunch today,” Eberl said.
“I was very surprised and asked him whether he would be out for two or three weeks. He smiled and said, ‘Two and a half.’ That’s probably not going to be the case.
“Given the syndesmosis ligament tear, we expect him to be out for three to four months.”
